LennyOriginally from Central New Jersey, Lenny Naar lives and works in San Francisco. Following his studies in Graphic Design at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, he started his professional career working with Pentagram Design. At Pentagram, he worked with Paula Scher on numerous large-scale brand identities, cultural institutions, product packaging, and publication design projects. His clients included The Coca-Cola Company, HP, Target, The Public Theater, The New York Philharmonic, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and Johnson & Johnson.

Following Pentagram, Lenny worked with SYPartners, a strategy and innovation firm. He worked closely with executive leadership teams to use design thinking to develop transformative business strategies. Now, you can find him working with teams of interaction, communication, and product designers at Smart Design in San Francisco.

Lenny frequently contributes to The New York Times Op-Ed and Book Review as an illustrator. He also designed a series of books for actress and comedienne Amy Sedaris, that each spent ten weeks on The New York Times Bestseller List.Lenny has received numerous design awards including a Certificate of Typographic Excellence from the Type Director’s Club. His work has been published in I.D., CMYK, STEP Inside Design, Graphis, Print, and Communication Arts. He has been an active member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts since 2004 and gave a main stage presentation at the National Conference on design in 2007.
